Are there orfe in the pond? cos a roach/orfe hybrid is possible. That would account for the blue colour. ..or it could just be a roach - the colouring can vary - some have very pale lower fins.

Has your book arrived yet?
I'm not sure if the pond holds orfe, as it was my first time fishing there....I must remember to take better pics if fish I can't identify.

My Book arrived last week and I read it while I spent this weekend at a lake.
A lovely written book, I really enjoyed reading it.
Bit of a rebel you were huh!?

Re: pond bashing

Nice looking venue.

I reckon that fish has a lot of Orfe in it

Photos can be deceptive but the head is all wrong for a roach and it's definately not a chub! Probably right in that it is a hybrid of some description.

Either way a good days fishing

May also be an Ide!!

There's always strange things in Wiltshire, what with all those crop circles, standing stones, chalk carvings etc etc etc

I thought orfe (or ide!) at first, but the scales were not right - too few and too big (orfe have a lot of tiny scales - see pic below)

Thats why I thought about a hybrid - and one with parents that would give it that bluish sheen - so roach and blue orfe were possibilities.

Pic of an orfe of similar size although this one is golden, not blue, but its the shape, scales and finnage that count.

Lmao and then you got those weird creatures...the germans lurking around too lol lol lol

Well I settle for hybrid, as I respect the decision of two experts.

Vagabond, thanks for the picture of the orfe....at least it gives me an idea now what to look out for.
