A Couple More Points To The Total

Having had today off (1 of 2 in lieu of all the hours worked over Xmas/New Year), I had planned a further trip to the Stour or Avon. But after Sundays efforts and more rain and wind this morning, I settled for a couple of hours on my local free stretch of the River Blackwater. Its a tiny river that does hold some superb fish albeit in localised areas. Its best fished "rover" style with minimum gear and a willingness to keep moving. So armed with rod, reel, net and pockets stuffed with all the other necessary bits and pieces, off I went for a total of 3 hours awandering!

Some swims were a little snaggy!

Some more than others!

The river was rising and becoming quite murky but I did find the occassional Dace and small Chub.

Better still, as the light faded, I managed a nice little Gudgeon, which will gain "The Cat & Twiddle" another 1.5 points

Pleased with my efforts, "one last cast" into the darkness saw me attached to a nice little Roach for a further 1.5 points

I can see this "Species Race" thingy will occupy a lot of thinking time in the coming months. So far, its been the easy species, but something tells me there's plenty of difficult times ahead!

Mind you when "Twiddler" gets going, there will be no stopping us!

Nice one Neil. you one brave man to have gone out fishing today, it was blowing a huli here all day and the rain hardly ever stopped.

You don't need me in the species hunt, knowing you, you will have it done in no time

Maybe you could leave a couple of species for me?!

Hopefully pike on Saturday

Good luck on Saturday. I see there's been a venue switch, at least you've fished there before. Hope you find an Esox (I'm not much good with them!).

As for that gorgeous Sabrina, I'd love another go at her as well

If you fancy some company and Dicky can arrange the right conditions, I'll be very happy to make the trip again. You will have "bertie" and of course there's more points to be had with the "Z's" (again, over to you on that one!).

Would be great if you'd join us at the Sabrina again....I'll make sure to travel light this time.
