| Monster Gudgeon This report is a little late, but only by a few days. I fancied a day on a small chalk stream in the small village of Tisbury by the name of the river Nadder. This river is known to be hard but some days it does fish very well and on Saturday it did just that. I arrived at 7:30, and I decided to fish the bridge swim, Even though the water is owned by Tisbury Angling Club, the bridge swim is a free peg. I started very gently on the feed so not to spook any fish and I set up my new Combination rod which is only 10ft, this rod is perfect for the Nadder as some swims can be a bit tight. I decided to fish a 3AA wire steam stick float with shot bulked up, so that bait went to the bottom. On the second cast I caught a nice Gudgeon at around 4” long I was well impressed with the size 1 hr late and I caught 20+ Gudgeon from 3” to 6” I caught a hand full of roach, a quite a large amount of minnows, and I even caught a Rudd, but my prize catch was the stone fish. By the time lunch time had arrived my hands were so cold that I could not feel my fingers in my left hand, at that point I decided to go home, I didn’t catch any big fish but I caught and I had a great time. I will have to go back in the New-year and see what these monster Gudgeon weigh. __________________ Born to fish made to work |

| Re: Monster Gudgeon Nioce one I took my pal JP there a couple of weeks ago, we began upstreamif the bridge, had some chub from under the bridge, walking down to the bridge, side casting then walking up stream to avoid scaring the fish. We moved to the down stream pitch when the wind got up, (wimps eh?). JP did well, gugeon to the sie of some of yours, JP had his first 'proper chub', about 2.8.0. I lost something which I think was a barble, one day I land one. I also managed my first grayling, all 5oz, sadly the dorsal fin was a mess, mistreatment perhaps? WEll done. on your trip again. Matt P/S I'll have another newsletter in Steves shop in a day or two. |
