Talking Great day fishing

As most of you know, I'm a new member here but I thought it would be good to post about mine and Maxine's day fishing on saturday.

We decided to go to one of our favourite spots, Peatling Pools as we haven't been for some time.
The weather was fantastic, a bit chilly at first but clearing to a warm blue sky and tthe best thing of all, we had the place to ourselves!

After baiting an area about 4 metres from where I was sitting with maggots, marine halibut pellets and sweetcorn, I decided to have a go with a margin pole. I also ledgered a hair rigged pellet with a grain of sweetcorn on the hook to an island after firing some bait out there too.

We settled down, enjoying the quiet and weather ...... my first drop with the pole landed a small perch, followed by another few. The pole tip then went under, the elastic stretched and I landed a personal best 1 pound perch ... lovley! This was followed by two really nice roach, both in the half pound size.

The ledgered rod finally came to life and the battle ensued ....... 10 minutes of a really good scrap landed me a nice 12 pound mirror carp.
I had a few other small fish .... mainly perch and roach and lost another carp in the margin as the hook came off the line.

Poor Maxine didn't get anything all day ........ apart from pictures of my catches!!

All in all a great day and a result for me as I decided to change tactics and hook size after a couple of hours, which payed off!

Re: Great day fishing

Sounds a perfect day...well done to the PB Perch.....lovely fish, I love catching them, if only the wouldn't swallow the hook so deep.

I guess Maxine only gave you a chance because she hates seeing you cry

Watch out the next time though, she'll will whoop your butt again

Re: Great day fishing

Hmmmm .... poor Maxine was a bit dispondant, especially as the ducks were in her swim!

It was a great day made better by the weather and that PB perch.

To be fair, there have been days when I have blanked and she has had all the fish so what goes around comes around!

I'll sort out some pics from saturday and post them ....
