Fishing the Pole or as Cuckoo likes to call it Claudia the Jonah

After Promising to take Twiddler fishing, so she could learn how to fish the pole, we agreed on a time and place. Crockerton nr Warminster, my local club lake. This lake has been very kind to me over the last year and it has some good bags on the pole, so high in confidence we arrange to fish the lake this Saturday. We both arrived at the lake at 7am to find the lake as still as a mill pond.

I lent Claudia an old 11mtr pole I had and I explained to her not to worry if the pole gets broken as I paid £20.00 for it a couple of years ago, however, I didn’t tell her I had never used the pole as yet.

After an hour going through the basics of how to sit comfortable and how ship back smoothly and how to keep every thing to hand and how to strike and finally how to enjoy the pole, Claudia started to fish.

4hrs into the day no a single bite not even a nibble. After thinking about the peg we were in and the fact nothing was happening, I decided that Claudia should try a deeper peg. After we moved and Claudia got set up I noticed some fish topping, a good sign as in the other peg we never even saw that.
But even moving made no difference, Claudia still didn’t get a bite.

However, she did learn how to handle the pole; she may have not caught a fish, but I am certain that she will.

It’s a shame that Claudia didn’t catch, but we did have a great laugh.

Re: Fishing the Pole or as Cuckoo likes to call it Claudia the Jonah

Thanks for a awesome day Steve, I have learnt a lot in one day.
As I said to you before, the day was about learning how to 'fish the pole' and not 'catching a fish on a pole'.

fishing the pole is definitely an art and can be very exhausting, nevertheless it's great fun but requires strong arms, specially having extended it from 7 to 9 metres.

I would also say a big thank you to Steve as he was so kind to present me with a present, the pole I was fishing.

MUHAHA if he'd only know what he let himself in to now......lots of tuitions on pole fishing

Watch this space, Claudia on the loose with a mahoooosive pole
