First time as a freshy !! excuse the report !

evenng all ,
well 18 of us had a fun day out today , organised by flatfish , lots of great coarse anglers , as well as a bunch of numbteys like me lol , my first ever experience of fishing still waters , had a great partner as justin made the pairs pegs fair (if that makes sense ) , me i was paired with mike (mithrandir) ,
alough, mike was a little under the weather (to say the least) , i was more than happy with his choice , we fished hordle , and had willow lakes to ourselves ,arrived to watching big fish surfacing on other lakes , me well had to feed them some bread flake lol , and they were farting as soon as they hit the surface lol , dirty buggers !!!!!! , moved on to our swim and mike set me and him up , ok here we go , fishing a size 12 hook , hair rig mind !!!! , a boilie and a pva bag full of delicious treats for the fish lol , now heres where i go wrong as i cant tell 1 fish from another , ...so in no apparent order mine and mikes catches ......

[I

[I

well im converted anyway lol !!!!!!
thanks to mike for a great lesson and look forward to more !!!!
lee.

Well done to all. Look's like a superb day.

Oh and Lee, I must admit I did some fishing this weekend and the water didn't have any waves either. Odd without surf isn't it?

Re: First time as a freshy !! excuse the report !

Well done Lee on your first visit over to the darkside....you a true natural and I know you caught the carp bug lol.

A great turn out on our fun day and to see a few sea anglers having a go at fresh water angling for the first time.

Even Mrs cuckoo had a dabble (although she had a little screemish problem with live maggots lol), however she managed to get a few skimmers, and little roach and rudd on dead maggots sweetcorn etc....well done Lou

We also had two novices with us, my son Chewy and his ghilly Tom, who managed 2 carp each and a bream.
Sadly no pics

My partner in crime was Fisherdan, who proves once again to become a great all rounder angler, again I only got a few pics of his catch but he managed lots more...well done Dan I think you beat them all

I was fishing mainly for silver as I am still looking to catch a roach over 1lb and a perch of at least 1lb 4oz....I came close to the perch, only 3oz of
I had my quiver tip rod set up as a sleeper rod for the carp, 8lb, baitrunner with 8lb mainline, size 12 hook, hair rig, feeder and 2 artificial sweetcorn.
Placed the bait 10 yards out to the right of an island and left it lol as I wanted to concentrate more in building a swim up for roach and perch

The second float rod, I set up with a 2AAA waggler, I fished the lift method, about 2- 3inch over depth.

I fed the swim up with hemp maggots and a few casters. maggot and casters as hook bait.
But as much as I tried I could not tempt the bigger roach.
I then switched to worm as hook bait to get passed those tiddlers and not long before this fella took a liking to my worm

Perch 1lb 1oz, biggest I caught so far

Still 3 oz of my target but I'm getting there.

I bagged 4lb of tiddlers, roach rudd and skimmers, biggest roach of 8oz, not quite the 1lb+ I'm after but there is hope yet.

On the carp side I managed (without even trying lol) 2 common 3lb6oz, 6lb 8oz and a mirror of 2lb 2oz.

A great fun day out for the club.

Thanks to Justin aka flatfish for organising the trip and bait.

Here are a few more pics of the day
