| 2nd trip of the season, good old perch I managed my second trip of the season, now that autumn is comming I plan to get many more in. Its down to the nature of my work that I don't get out much in the summer, (cricket too). Well, I popped down to the River Frome, at the Creamery stretch. I took a friend along who had not fished for 25 or so years. Very basic tackle, a float rod with a 'pin with a stick float, and a 'tip road for legering the trusty lob worm. The results were that we caught some lovely chub, up to about 1lb, and many perch, most importantly, my guest has been 'hooked', again, and has already been on the 'phone about going again, and other fish we could catch. We roved the river bank, in the final spot, the perch were so densely shoaled up that we were getting a bit on the 'tip within 20 seconds on the bait going in. Smallest fish about 3", largest just under 1 1/2lb. Some took the bait as it was being retrieved. All in all a wonderful couple of hours. Now the cricket season is over, I'll be on the bank a bit more. And posting results too. |
