kia oro ponds 13/9/7

well had planned to do river with phill again today (but unfortunately phill couldnt make it)so had a pint of maggot sitting in fridge wanting to go swimming

now i didnt fancy going to river on own for some reason (dont know why)so decided on kia ora ponds in collumpton(as may be taking the baggie one next week, so a rekkie was in order

a nice pair of ponds,run by exeter aa, cost £6 a day or £30 a year(that includes all the canal , local rivers and several other ponds) top pond is all silvers and crucians, bottom pond is all mixed with carp into teens now, neither ponds big but you are not likely too see many others and is nice and quiet(no one uses alarm here), there were 5 others today, mostly on the pole



as was really set up for river i had grabbed a few extras and run asap to get there, got there about 9am
fished my float rod with waggler and size 14 4lb main line 2lb hooklink

and my barbel rod (1&3/4lb) with a size 30 baitrunner 8lb line and 8lb hooklink(had to make from mainline) size 10(maximum size allowed)

I was into numerous roach and rud and gudgeon on the float rod with maggot
then baitrunner (sweetcorn) roared into life(would have been a great one toner) and I missed it with style
then good fun with lots of crucians about this stamp




could see lots of god carp high up in water so was fishing float rod 6 inch hooklink now, but they werent having it

then with 1/2 hour to go (2.30pm) at last my baitrunner went again, this time i held on and this 2-3lb carp was in the net, (first since april)



and then not to be outdone the float rod(fished right too island) went this time a long battle (with 2lb hooklink ) and i wanted to enjoy the fight as well, another 3lber but really really pretty



and that was it time up, had to get back for kids
not hectic on the carp but plenty of fun on the float rod with the crucians etc
and topped up the tan
and some bait over for somewhere tommorrow maybe

Yo can't beat a relaxed morning on a river/pond, drowning some maggots.
Nice common, mirror and crucian.....which is one fish I haven't had yet.

"A fine day out" and some fine fish too.
Nice to have access to a "carp free" pool as well as a carpy one.

tried using up the bait on a 2 new rivers today(more of a quick rekkie really)

went to the river creedy at cowley bridge


a georgeous slow moving river


saw some lovely big fish swirls and missed a few takes(def carp under this bridge)

also tried the river exe on other side of field , much faster flow (too fast for the stick float i had) missed 2 trout(needed for hunt) I will definately be back
