Species Hunt 2007 No 53

This trip was meant to be a reconnaissance of some “new” stretches of the Middle Medway that had become available to one of my clubs – a few casts here and there to see what was present – pretty much what was expected, chub, roach, perch, bream and then at this swim



AHAH! A daddy ruffe (aka Pope) – beautiful speckled fins, and most important of all, filling a gap in our species hunt list.



Toasted with a pint of Old Speckled Hen at the pub up the road – very appropriate.

Well done, Dave. I really think Ruffe are a great fish, visually. A lot of people underrate them. Ian will tell you how hard they are to catch too
