Bury Hill - Sunday 26/8/2007 Looking to go to Bury Hill tomorrow for only my 2nd time out since picking up the tackle for some 30 odd years. Was planning to fish Milton again (fished quite well a month ago). But I must say I do fancy having a crack at the Old Lake. Any tips on location/tactics that are working at the moment would be appreciated. I'll let you have my report tomorrow evening. Cheers. __________________ Taking Care of Business

Re: Bury Hill - Sunday 26/8/2007 Bury Hill is my local lake. Don't be fooled by the website, the Old Lake is not an easy lake to fish. Unless you are fishing match-style or for carp forget it, it's not a waggler water as they claim. If you do fish in that way, expect lots of bream and the occasional tench. Both love halibut pellets. As for carp, I've caught on Tutti-Frutti, Scopex and Icelandic Red boilies. Mainline fusion and pulse score well here too. From October 1st, Zander and Pike can be caught on the usual techniques. As for Bonds Lake, use waggler tactics with nothing more than luncheon meat. Size 12 hooks, 4 lb line and loose feeding tiny cubes of meat should be enough. I've has carp to 9lb on a match rod on Bonds. Great fun. Milton is a much more varied lake. Try maggots, meat, pellets or boilies, they all work. Crucians, roach, rudd, perch and carp all reside in there. I caught a 12lb common carp on a tutti-frutti boilie in 2005. Wish I could join you tomorrow, hope this helps.

Re: Bury Hill - Sunday 26/8/2007 Excellent Rob, thanks. I understand Bond is closed tomorrow. Think I'll leave the Old Lake until I get more experience. I'll be with Mrs TCB on Milton if you get a chance to pop over. Cheers Mark __________________ Taking Care of Business

Re: Bury Hill - Sunday 26/8/2007 Arrived 7:30, got the last parking space available, good start. Got held up at reception, someone had blocked the entrance to the overflow car park, no big deal, we are here to relax and have a good day. Old Lake, packed. Bond, closed for some match or another. Got to Milton, not a swim to be seen, started making our way round, found peg 8 free. Looked pretty good, set up checked the depth, a little over 3 feet, looking forward to getting going. As usual, set up Mrs TCB's gear, got her comfy and started setting my own rod up. It's usual at this point for Mrs TCB to catch but not today. Started on the waggler on the bottom, luncheon meat, Mrs TCB using bread same method. Gave it 30mins, not even a bite between us ..... I changed to sweetcorn, Mrs TCB changed to maggot .... still no bites. I tried to keep an eye on what was going on around me and found it much the same which made me feel a little more comfortable. Switched to ledger, luncheon meat about 6 feet off the island ... spent the next few hours moving the bait around / changing bait ..... still not even a nibble and still nothing around me either. Well it was dire ..... I was trying everthing I knew (which at the moment is not a great deal) I was rerunning Matt Hayes and Total Fishing through my mind time and time again, trying to come up with something new .... Nothing ! Then the clock struck 3:30pm .... well, all hell breaks loose. Mrs TCB picked up a 4-5lb common on ledger with bread .... I pulled in a mirror slightly smaller ... from then until we called it a day at 7pm we did not stop catching, had an absolutely amazing 3.5 hrs. Plenty of commons, the best around 7lb, mirrors and a very nice tench to boot. Absolutely shattered, 3.5hrs of mayhem. What make it worse is Mrs TCB dont much like getting the fish off the hook !!!! In fact it does not happen, the price of peace and harmony I suppose, but it was bloody hard work. Great day though. Look forward to next time, maybe get there earlier and try the Old Lake. __________________ Taking Care of Business

Re: Bury Hill - Sunday 26/8/2007 Nice one tcb. Often have sessions when it's really slow and then all of a sudden you can't stop catching. __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º>
