river Culm this eve

just spent a very pleasent eve with phill on river culm

caught nothing big but pleasent all the same

were bullied several times by the cows but got own back when we trudged back through the woods and startled them

river was quite high, coloured and fast flowing with regular debris coming through,
fished with trotting floats and maggot



noticed tonight (as we were getting a few good size fish) the barbels and shape of the gudgeon and wondered if they are part of barbel family


phill with one of the many roach


and my first catch of the night, perfectly hooked as well



gave up at 9 as couldnt see floats(also cast mine into the gloom and bushes eother side )
a good night, sure we had a baby chub but was deep hooked and after faffing arround to return it forgot pic, guess that means we will have to go back

Nice looking little river Dave. Next time try quivertipping a bit of luncheon meat under the overhanging bushes. That usually sorts out the Chub.

Well done guys, Its some times worth using casters as well, it helps in sorting out the better fish. However, it looks like you both had a great evening.

Nice looking river - a bit clearer than the river I am fishing at the moment (update, lots of silver fish, some perch and the odd trout - still no grayling)
