| last week was up at me mums in surrey again(extra help with kids on school hols) and decided to have another bash for one of the species needed for the hunt(been trying for this particular species for over 2 years(well since a kid really) and it usually defies me so plans of attack were drawn up the venue is situated nicely beside a good local hostelry in epsom(the Cricketers) ![]() where the ducks are fed more regulary than homer simpson with a box of doughnuts , heres my daughter using up the last of the bait ![]() tactics were simple split cane rod and white sliced bread size 22 hook direct to a 2lb line ![]() after going to the feeder stream at the back of the pond we soon spotted the quarey and baited up several times i got the fish to take the bait but missed on the strike but soon a more confident fish approached the hook, from my vantage point(lying along the overhaning log watching the schoal through the clear water) and i saw the smal piece of bread dissapear, i struck watched the wee fish shoot through the water and suddenly become airbourne(maybe struck too aggressively ![]() forgot to see how many spines had but its a stickleback for the hunt I was soooo chuffed i even txt a few people to say had done it(how sad is that )anyway as you can imagine after all this excitement needed a pint after and was glad didnt have to walk too far for 1 either dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: 2 year hunt for points and a pint Well done - glad to see that like me, you used a powerful Specimen Stickleback "Perdition Mk 3" rod. Far too many so-called anglers fish for sticklebacks with inadequate gear, with the result that many sticklebacks spend the rest of their lives towing the top half of a rod about. After such a fight, you needed that pint. BTW I find a shoulder harness helps with banking specimen stickles (you can also clip it to the bar to steady yourself should the one pint become several) __________________ RNLI Governor Nothing matters very much, few things matter at all - Plato ...only things like fresh bait and cold beer - Vagabond |
