| 3 nighter at Cobbleacre The trip started early Wednesday morning as the sun rose, me and my buddy Chris were setting up in our favourite swim on Adam's Lake. The weather was warm and the odd fish could be seen cruising. Baits were cast out and we set about getting base camp sorted. It wasn't long before I had a run and with this being my first carp session since France, it was quite a giggle when I landed a 3lb common carp, the last carp I had landed weighed 31lb 8oz. Still a nice fish, and it gave a good scrap for it's size. The fish were starting to rise so in came the legered baits, and out went a few mixers. The fish were soon taking the baits confidently, so we cast out a controller hoping to get a couple off the top. Chris had his first fish of the session at 7lb 4oz, and I followed with another carp of around 6lb 4oz. ![]() They soon became wary and the sun was setting, so out went the legered baits hoping to tempt a few carp. They were seen crashing around in front of us, so we were feeling confident. Thursday dawned and with only 1 fish caught during the night to Chris, we were a little disappointed. Still, it was a nice day and we were hoping to tempt a carp or 2 from the surface. I managed another 2 fish before breakfast, and it was a great start to the day. The fish carried on much the same throughout the day with a steady stream of carp coming to the net. I managed another 7 during the day and the highlight was definitely this gorgeous fish of 5lb 4oz: ![]() We were treated to a lovely sunset and enjoyed the night with a couple of beers. ![]() ![]() Again, there was little action during the night and it was very cloudy when we awoke Friday morning. I managed another fish off the top before the rain set in and boy did it come down! We were huddled in my bivvy for more than 4 hours with a constant downpour. Chris managed 3 fish from the margins during this time, one at 5lb, one at 10lb 3oz and another double at 10lb 10oz. There was still the odd fish feeding on the surface so I decided to tie up a 3 foot zig rig and cast it out. It wasn't long before I had a nice mirror of around 5lb in the net and a little later on another nice fish of 7lb 4oz. ![]() By the end of play Friday, we had managed 24 fish between us. Today was another dull one, with sunny intervals and the fish weren't too interested in feeding. I had another small carp of 2lb 4oz and Chris managed 3 more during the morning, so a final tally of 28 fish between the two of us. It was a very enjoyable session with plenty of action. Here's to the next one. ![]() __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º> |
