| Species hunting on the drains Had this session planned for a couple of weeks now, and after seeing a few reports since opening day, I couldn't wait to get back on a fen drain. I would be fishing with my Dad, and would pretty much be fishing the waggler all day in search of points. Arrived at the chosen venue with the weather looking very "iffy" to say the least, but this being my first trip out since France, I wasn't going to let a little bit of water spoil my day. ![]() Out went a bit of bait to get any fish about interested while setting up. The floats soon joined them and straight away we were into roach, rudd and perch. A nice skimmer bream soon came in and 1.5 points. The swim went quite for a little while before my dad struck into something a little better, it was fighting hard and I was nicely surprised to see an eel grace the net (unfortunately, not for me, so no points) ![]() Not long after this and I had a decent fish on, it was really fighting well and keeping it's head down. It finally surfaced and I managed to land a nice bream of around 2lb. ![]() The rest of the day continued pretty much the same as earlier with plenty of skimmers, roach and rudd coming to hand, before I finally managed some more points with this nice bleak. ![]() 3 points and a new species for my dad is more than good enough for me, so we left a pair of happy anglers. __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º> |
