| roll on the weekend and back to the rivers Well after 3 months waiting finally the season restarts this Saturday. I think it is time to go out and start hunting those missing species for the species hunt. I hope to hit my local stretch of the hampshire avon and see if I can pop a grayling and a brown trout in the net this Saturday morning. I think an early start and a few maggots and that should see me happy. Sunday I might sneak off at the crack of dawn to a free stretch of the Stour I know and see if the bleak and minnows I caught last year have got any bigger. So here is hoping, I will post a report, success or failure, when I return. Will be fun out on a light rod and line and some tiny hooks and see what is up for some old fashioned maggot and feeder or waggler So anyone else out on the hunt? Mike |

| Re: roll on the weekend and back to the rivers Must admit it will be great to get the old quiver rods out and hit the severn and see if I can get a barble or good chub ![]() __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: roll on the weekend and back to the rivers I have been on stillwaters and canals during the closed season, but it is the lure of a flowing river that I miss. I think you have to work harder on a river which makes the fishing far more enjoyable. The sounds and sights on a river I think add to the atmosphere to and make a complete experience. It is just not the same camped out around a pond surrounded by 20 other anglers in camo gear all trying there best to catch the biggest fish that they know is in there, waiting for their buzzers to sound whilst they brew up, competing to cast the furthest with their latest matching set of super-dooper tackle, trying to out do the other anglers. It is the sport I go for , not the kudos. I prefer the hunting and stalking that a river gives you, the chance that a fish of a lifetime is in that area and fate may just let you be the one to lure it onto your bait. A couple of hours of early morning dipping on a river whilst the world sleeps has got to be better than anything to lose the stress of any week pressed against the grindstone of work. Thank goodness for the summer mornings and secluded rivers. |
