| Non go bye farm Well managed to get out today with a friend from work! We had been planning the trip for a couple of weeks and the weather was not looking too good for the weekend .We arrived at the farm around 07:30 and the weather was perfect. We had not been here before but had been told good things. The lake looked good and we settled into our swims for the day. ![]() We had nothing for about three hours then one of my mate's reels started to sing and out came this cute little carp! ![]() It went about two pounds. Nobody was doing too well, a bloke to the right of me had a few tench and small carp but it was looking like being a hard day. I had just invested in a new Maver powerlite rod and so was giving it a go on the waggler after some silver fish just so I wouldn't blank when without warning my reel started to back-wind like mad! I lifted into it and managed to stop it halfway across the lake. ![]() I had to take it easy as I was on 4lb line straight through to the hook (size 12) Dan came over with his landing net and tried his best to knock it off before I could land it. After I pointed out to him that he was in front of my right boot he decided to land it for me and out came this nice little carp. ![]() It was 5lb but next to me it looks a lot smaller! (you have to take into account that I am 6'3 and 20st) I had just cast back out when I was into another carp. This was a lot smaller about 1/2lb and no picture was taken i just put it straight back. Both fish were caught on triple red maggot on size 12 barbless hook. I thought that the carp had come on the feed but that was it for another couple of hours when Dan landed this nice skimmer. Both of his fish were caught on meaty marine boilies! ![]() We both thought that once into one skimmer more would follow but that was it for the day apart from the inevitable one that got away. Dan thought he was going to beat me 3 - 2 but before I could even get near him with the landing net the carp made a lunge towards him and the barbless hook let go! So after a long day in the sun we had both managed just two fish each but I can always say without doubt that mine is bigger than Dan's! I know we didn't catch as much as we thought we would but we had a great time and it was only £5 for the whole day. There are toilets and a buttie van was there to keep us all going. |
