saucy Minnows strike again

I'd promised that I'd take the lad fishing today, so he got his first chance to fish "the little" and i got a chance to try Devon Daves patented lift bite method on the resident Tench that I have heard so much about but as yet have failed to catch. I'm reliably informed that they grow to double figures in the lake and as my PB is just 3LB I've set myself a personal goal of getting one of these elusive giants. Anyway the lad was soon catching plenty of silver fish and tiddly perch and I went after the tench. It was pretty slow going, probably due to the drop in temperature we had today but I was kept busy by my lad who needed plenty of help unhooking and rebaiting. Finally though I got a lovely lift bite and struck into something solid..for about 3 seconds I thought it might be a nice tench but the fish was soon at the surface...a really nice Bream. not what I was after but welcome all the same..my lad even did a pretty nifty job of the photo! As things panned out that was about it as we had to pack up after 3 hours...oh well the tench will have to wait till another day!

Re: saucy Minnows strike again

Here's my lad getting a little perch (his favourite) on the same day. It was the first time he's really baited his own hook and unhooked his own fish...normally in the past I've done it for him, so he was chuffed to bits and now feels like a "real" angler. He's spent his time since looking through all my old tackle catalogues and sorting his floats in to neat lines. I think we can safely say we have a convert!
