20/4/07 quick session after work at Witherington farm

Friday afternoon 2pm, finished work, so young Matt (workmate) asked me if I'd fancy joining him for a afternoon fishing session at Witherington farm.
Needless to say, it took me only 30 mins to speed back home, grab my fishing gear and meet Matt at the fishery.

I set my quiver tip rod up with a small maggot feeder and the other rod on a waggler float, Matt only fished with one float rod also set up with a waggler.
During my set up I started to groundbait my swim and on the first cast out on the float rod I managed to catch and land a small tench of about 10oz.

Matt also had his first catch shortly after, again a tench of about 1lb.

It was a very bizzar session, as the tench turned our swim into a whirlpool with their feeding bubbles.....I've never seen anything like that before.

We used worm, maggots and soft hook pellets as bait and caught about 25-30 tench between us, all on the float, while I had only one bite on the maggot feeder, a bream.

We obviously hit the 'tench' corner, as Matt had caught nothing but tench and myself only had one bream couple of roach.

Despite of the lack of other species, it was a pleasent 4 hours session.

Cracking bag of Tench Claudia. I've never fished Witherington, although i've paid a couple of visits to their well stocked tackle shop. Maybe we should organise a Forum mini-meet there?....
