Talking Friday 13th @ bury hill, not a bad omen

well I must start this report with a massive thank you and also a massive apology

firstly was up at parents for few days with kids to make 3 week holiday seem bareable and after doing loads of gardening for my parents was arranged that between them and father in law they would sort kids for day and also gave me money to fish bury hill but was never certain till morning

the apology is too Rob M who i contacted just before my trip up saying that wouldnt have time to fish or have rod(well the 2nd bit was really last minute throw in , incase could get out ) sorry mate I owe you a beer

so at 10 father in law picks up kids but 10.30 I was at bury hill

as only had float rod decided to do 1 of smaller lakes, bonds was already full but milton was 80% empty so set up in a nice corner near the reeds

bait was worms(from the gardening) maggot( as now sell there ) sweetcorn from londis and some hemp groundbait mix
tackle was 2lb line straight through size 16 hook and 3bb waggler(which i found left in swim ;D targeting known crucians here(think uk record is from here??)

took a while to get swim started then was plagued by tiny perch(but 1.5 points)must have had about 20 this size grrrr

started running short of 16 hooks as these greedy sods kept deep hooking
then at last i got my target with a nice plump crucian
this first one was actually best of day at 1lb 10oz

next one was really pretty

then after 3 more smaller ones the crucians moved off plus had upped hook size to 12 as ran out of 16 on pech and crucians and no 14 in bag, and was supprised that in bright sun abot 3pm the tench moved in had 2 smaller ones then this one at 2lb 8oz (great fun on such light gear

had a few roach
then to top off had this common carp about 3lb on last knockings

interesting how the species of fish came through in waves, heard of this bait/species pyramid this is first time really seen happen properly

packed up at 6 and headed home very happy having had a great mixed bag and 6 points on a very unexpected session

the only downer was as i walked back past bonds lake the amount of rubbish from the lazy gits who should get banned for stuff like this

most swims seemed to have rubbish arround them there really is no need!!!!!!!!!!!!

otherwise a great day , loads of good fish on light gear , suntan top up and a good few beers with brother in eve what more could a guy want

dave

well done on what sounds like a real scratching gear session,

the un planned sessions can sometimes turn out to be the best.

Re: Friday 13th @ bury hill, not a bad omen

Nice one Dave, Looks like you had a good day, well done.

Shame about the rubbish, i to have noticed that alot of the day ticket waters I have fished seem to suffer from the same curse. There is jut no need for it. All it takes is to take a shopping carrier bag with you and put your rubbish in and take it home and place it in the bin.
