 The Nature Reserve - 4,5 & 6/4/07 well as the title suggests i have fished my local pond for three days! not 3 days straight of course, im not a carp fisherman!  first day - blank, very windy, cold, coloured water, opposite of good conditions.  second day - hot, sunny, perfect in the evening, caught 3 roach. pristine sunset as well...kinda stuff you see on tv  day three - READ ON!  got there at about 4, after i finished work...a long hard day to be honest (lmao im joking my paper round isnt that bad) and set up into my favourite swim, shown above, as it is the place you get least plagued by roach. (you cant escape them... they are everywhere!) tactics! waggler set up 6 lb line size 14 micro barb hook 2 maggots fished at about 3 and a half feet. continuous shower of maggots, about 6 or 7 going in every 2 minutes. got started with a couple of tiny roach, as per usual, but then something a bit more decent caught on and i was delighted to see a tiny little tench, palm of your hand size...bless its cotton socks! took a piccy but camera ran out before it saved... spare batteries to the rescue! flicked in again and pulled out a curious looking crucian...ive nicknamed him the crucian of notre dame...guess why!  another crucian after that  then next bite and im into something more considerable. gives a nice old battle for a few minutes and turns out to be a very nice tench for this pond of about a pound and a half. got two in the end!  my friend harry helping with photography  went a tad quiet with only a few roach, then i got a nice coasting bite , brought in what i thought was a crucian but it turned out to be the smallest mirror you have ever seen!! i unhooked, appreciated and released as quick as i could to let it grow into a monster for another day! beautiful fish imho  the night carried on with dad arriving to show me how its done and he promptly hooked into a right rod-buckler, a true leviathan of the deep...look at the picture below to see the struggle between man and beast as he tries to subdue it's ferocity!!  ended up with me having 3 tench 2 crucians and about 40 roach to my name and dad having half the time that i did, but catching 55 roach in the 2 hours he fished. covered in slime, maggot entrails and water, we went home happy at about 8:15, pretty pleased with 4.5 pts on the board! __________________ "Alright Jack, we all ready to fish?"
