kia ora lakes today 5/4/7

managed to get my son up to the kia ora lakes

these are 2 ponds that are great for kids, safe, small and full off small stuff

set him up with a £5 shakespeare special rod and reel from tackle shop chunky float that he could see(also self hook as he never sees bites) and before i had my rod set up he was 2 roach and a gudgeon up

then he caught the bottom so i had time to sort myself out

it was really hot and didnt see any carp movement anywhere , pretty much the ledger rod stayed put all the time and i concentrated on float fishing in hope of points, especially a crucian

but just got taken by gudgeon on the drop almost every cast

but they are points

also like paul I managed to pull a bird as well

then final cast managed to miss the gudgeon and get a tiny roach or rud (not sure seemed too gold for roach?? please advise)

and points and son allowed us to be there for nearly 3 hours till fed up so thanks sean

(although i did have to do some serious fishing at end so as not to get outfished by one of my children again
