A great fun day

Mike, Chewy and myself arrived at Revels around 7.20am, by then I expected the others to be there already, WRONG!!!! So a little time on our hand, money itching in my purse and a tackle shop on side....well DO I need to say anymore ;-)

7.45am and still no Team insight, Mark was the next to arrive, after a brief introduction we decided to have our brekkie already, as the bacon just smelt too inviting. Sat down for breakfast, having a mouth full of beans my phone went. Fingers admitted to be lost, NOWWWWWW there is a first, it's usually me calling him begging for direction, so fingers had to dispense to all modern technology like tom toms, he had to resort to a Mike Mike lol.

So the late arrivals quickly filled their bellies, with a welcome full english breakfast and soon we were on our way to the lakes, sadly we could not all fished together, as the lakes were not big enough for all of us to fish.
On our lake, 'Trendles Pool' we had Mark who kindly fished with Chewy as his partner, Mike and his fishing partner John, Gary and myself.

Justin, Fingers, Mick, Wayne, Wayne and Jason? ????? sorrrrrry it's the name thingy again, getting a bit senile, were fishing the other lake, 'Dead Tree' lake.

After unloading our cars, picking the swims, we all were set up ready to go, with a little help for Chewy from Mark. (Thanks Mark for showing Chewy the ropes)
Gary decided to give his new bivvy a tryout and decided to put it up as a wind shelter for us....good idea at the time...but wait and see.

Most of us decided to float fish the waggler as the lake was well wind protected, baits were too many to mention, anything from maggot to mini boilies but sadly the fish weren't up for playing so the fishing went pretty slow to begin with.

The only one who caught almost straight way was John (jammy git ;-) ), must say great respect to John, for a sea angler he did right darn good and even handled the tiddlers with gentle care, despite his bear paws lol.
(just don't ask him to put a single maggot on a size 16 hook lol lol )

Mike also managed to get of the mark, with a small cruician and the rest of us didn't manage anything but teaching maggots to swim :-(

Lunch time arrived and we all gathered together for a burger or two and to catch up with the event so far. A great thank you to the owners, who were friendly, helpful and cooking some lovely food.

Soon we all retired to our swim and I decided to change from float fishing to a small maggot feeder, with a single red maggot on the hook (after Justin mentioned that all fish caught on their lake was on method/maggot feeder).

Needless to say I soon was into my first fish, a small common, so I decided to help Chewy to change his set up to the same too, as I have noticed that he was getting a little demoralist. I did the first cast for him and even before I was able to put the rod on the rest we were into a bite. I quickly struck the rod and handed it over to Chewy for him to land his VERY first fish.

Not a monster but according to Chewys smile he was very happy with it, well done son ;-)

The wind started to pick up a bit and made fishing hard work, as the fish weren't in a feeding mood, on top of everything else, Garys bivvy decided to break free and almost ended up in the lake, luckily I managed to catch it before it took a swim. One of the bivvy pole however wasn't so lucky and ended up in my swim, sticking out of the water.
While Gary was still occupied fighting with his bivvy (I'm not saying Gary is a weakling but the bivvy almost won lol)....I had a struggle with a landing net to get the pole out of my swim........things I do for my partner huh, almost ended up in the water myself....Gary!!!!! You owe me a pint or two ;-)

Anyway, back to the fish, late afternoon arrived and the fish finally woken up and soon we all begun to catch some fish.....besides Mark and Chewy, so both decided to move swims and settled to the pegs next to Mike and John (who both got the jackpot at their end, as they were catching throughout).

Not long before Mark was into his first fish....a decent size by the looks of the fight the fish put up but sadly Mark lost it, as the fish snapped his hook length. Chewy was well into his fish by then, not big fish but plenty. Mind you a big fish would probably caused him a little trouble, as I put him on lighter tackle, 5lb mainline, 2 lb hook length and a quiver tip rod with a very sensitive tip. Maybe not the right set up for a beginner but he managed pretty well.

Here another couple of pics with some of his tiddlers

It must have been around tea time when Mark was well into another, what looked like a good size fish and this time he managed to bank this lovely (I think it was around the 5lb 8oz mark) common

Well done Mark, cracking fish.

Now not to forget Gary, he had a few nice fish too, well done Partner but unlike the rest of us, he stayed on the float which he set up slightly over depth so he was sure to fish right on the bottom of the lake too.
(That man is full of beans I can tell ya....always on the go, doing something...chill partner lol...you make me dizzy hehe ), mind you, I bet he'll be saying that I talked for both of us lol lol

I know Mike and John really were lucky as they hit the right spot with their swim, as the fish seemed to shoal up around there....and both guys were catching throughout the day.....Oh and John kept watering the big tree at their swim ;-) too many budweisers maybe? ;-)......I told him he can't make the tree grow faster like that lol

Well, time to weigh in up came far to quick for my liking, so we decided to stay a little longer, Mark kindly offered John to give him a lift back, so John stay on with us a little longer.
All of us were still catching and I even managed to bank this beauty of 6lb 8oz which really made my day.

Soon it was getting darker and it was time to pack up....(still don't know if Gary stayed the night)....we all said our goodbyes and just managed to get out of the gates before lock up.

Thank you Justin for organizing a great fun day and the hard work you put into it.
It was great to have met Mark (thanks again for helping Chewy), Wayne and Wayne and Jason????.....but most of all it was great to finally have met John, great guy funny as **** and a great angler (ouch did I just say that????).....looking forward to our trip on your 'nutshell' ;-)
