Woodstock Pool 3 March

Fished a few hours at Woodstock Pool in Newport on Saturday. Used 2 rods, a feeder rod with maggot feeder and a bunch of maggots on the hook and a waggler set up again with maggot as bait. The water is a good little macth venue with loads of small silvers, F1's, perch, eels and a recent stocking of small carp together with tench in the warmer weather. My first cast resulted in a missed bite and on re-casting I land a nice little bream of about 1lb (photos to follow) so 1.5 points for the species hunt. I soon followed this up with a reasonable roach of just under half a pound (another 1.5 points) and was getting bites every cast within minutes and quite often as soon as the float settled but I proceeded to miss loads of them often resulting in tangles as the float flew back and wrapped around the line meaning my bait wasn't in the water often enough

. Ended up landing another 6 small roach of a few ounces and lost a decent skimmer of about 1.5lbs as it came to the net (another 1.5 points gone). All in all it was a fun session, the feeder didn't produce though and no sign of the carp, maybe boilies or pellet will do a better job for them.
