did the eclipse affect the bream ??

well this evening i got a to go dreaming with my mate Phil at the last minute .
it was left up to me to make up the ground bait for the session which was a mixture of pellets corn, maggots and casters all bound together with brown and white bread crumb .
we decided to stay on the year but move onto the cut from the main river as it was high and we know when it get high they move into the cut as the flow rates and slower .
we set up about 7.30 pm first thing i done was clip up and cast a few feeder fulls of ground bait out once this was done i baited up with worn tipped with a single red maggot and cast out .it was not long before the tip swung round and the first bream of the night was landed .

soon this was back and the rod was baited again and sent back out to the area i had baited .the tip was constantly switching and the fish were given me false bite i tried hitting a couple but to no avail then i got a strange bite and when i struck i connected but it seemed not big nor put up a fight
and then in front of me was a very small eel but hey! i,m not going to complain as i need one for the species hunt

after this i changed over to double sweet corn as i did not want ot catch any more eels and this seemed to be the right thing to do as i caught a couple of bream straight away i was still getting liners and i was obviously right on top of the shoal another couple of bream came to me but Phil was sitting right next to me and had not even had a bite or any liners .as the lunar eclipse was nearing the fish were obviously reacting as i was now constantly getting liners to the point i started to try and hit these but when the bream did pick up the bait there was no mistaking them as false bite and it was near on impossible to miss them either as i banked yet another nice bream

no sooner had i cast out in fact i never got it in the rest as the tip swung round and yet again was into a nice bream this was soon back .
as i was getting all this activity i decided to cast just up stream of my baited area to see if it made any difference the moon now was fully eclipsed and interestingly the next fish came was the biggest of the night

now this might be because of the moon i,m not sure but i do feel it might be that the bigger fish were laying of the baited area
but i do follow moon phases and its interesting how hectic it was and how many liners i was getting the fish were very active at least in front of me . as Phil was getting no action we called it a night

tightlines

Kevin
