| last nights Bream session Well the last few weeks i,ve been distracted by the Zeds but with time ticking (we still recognise the closed season on this particular water)i decided to get back down to business and have a go for the Bream on 1 of my syndicate waters. By 3pm i had my boat loaded and was rowing to my swim,i have 3 permanent markers in the swim i fish so bait was at the ready to be put in on my way across, fishing is from purpose built stages and most members just fish the same swim year out year in having raked and baited throughout the year,my markers are approx 65yds from the stage and placed in 8ft of water, which is about as deep as it gets anywhere on the mere. My bait consists of 1 pint of hinders betaine pellets and 1 pint of hinders bloodworm pellets and 1 tin of corn. My hookbaits would be 2 rods on 10mm p/apple pop up and 1 rod on rubber sweetcorn all fished on semi-fixed bolt rigs with detatchable hooklengths threaded through 6" boilie funnel web sticks,i use hinders Krab & krill method mix in the sticks. By 5pm my rods were all placed each by 1 of the 3 markers, and i mean placed ,i lower them from my boat and row back with my rod on the baitrunner and place it on the buzzers when i get back,i know it sounds like cheating but i know for sure that my rig is lying exactly in the baited spot for the coming night. If i do get a fish i have sliding stop knots on my lines marking where to clip up to so i can cast back in the dark,i dont row rods back out after dark i rely on casting then. At about 9pmish i started to get the odd bleep indicating that maybe i had a fish or 2 in the swim but nothing materialised until 01:20am and my left hand rod bobbin fell back swiftly after picking up the rod i could feel the familiar thumping of a Bream after a short fight i had my first Bream in the net for 7 sessions so was well chuffed,on the scales it went 12 lb 13 oz and was a male so it was quickly placed in the Queenford retention system for some pics in the morning. The rod was cast back out to the spot,it must of been fairly accurate as within 10mins itwas away again resulting in an 8 lb 13 oz female that was quickly weighed and returned after letting it recover in the landing net for 10 minutes. It went quiet for the next hour so i decided that i would get my head down but just as i had got in the bag my left hand rod was away again this time resulting in a 12 lb 8 oz female Bream, which i sacked up in another sack for the morning pics, wow what a night after 7 blanks in a row i was over the moon. So with only 2 weekends left to closing the Zeds will have to wait a bit while i try to bag some more of them big slabs. robm. ps i,m struggling posting the pics on my post, actually i,ve given up for now. Maybe Richard or Kev could do me the honours and put them on for me ,i managed to get the pics uploaded on the album page but thats as far as i got. |
