| hust spit/chesil, geology site link hi, i got bored so had a read of this;- http://www.soton.ac.uk/~imw/Hurst-Castle-Spit.htm i found the bit about the bitumen beach deposits and the methane gas seep off durlstone head interesting (its a long scroll down) perhaps man is not just to blame for these type of pollutants, but is also ( to a much lesser extent ) a natural phenomenon. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: hust spit/chesil, geology site link I read that site - fascinating stuff (my A level Geog/Geol coming out .... smart arse !) The bits I found interesting were the recorded 'breakthroughs where the sea 'broke through the shingle banks and flooded the land behind - note broke through - not over - some force that must have been - awesome ... as Henry would say ... __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps ! | Re: hust spit/chesil, geology site link Interesting stuff Gord. I seem to recall reading that the romans collected tar / oil for their lamp fuel, that seeped out of the cliffs at Kimmeridge bay near Swanage. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |
