Re: Container ship ground near Branscombe This is not good, I can almost see the ship from my house!! Branscombe is on the South Devon coast between Seaton (where I live) and Sidmouth. Hopefully the winds will turn northerly as predicted so that the sea will flatten and they can get the cargo off. Fingers crossed. Glad I'm not at work. Regards, Darren

It said on the radio a couple of days back when the crew were rescued, that it was carrying a dangerous cargo. But they did'nt say what. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...

Re: Container ship ground near Branscombe Quote from NTL news page - Containers containing materials such as battery acid and perfume have come off a cargo ship that has beached a mile off the English coast. The spokeman said: "Following the adverse weather 150 containers have been lost. The coastguard and the police have been searching the shore line and so far 40 containers have been found. "During the night oil has also leaked from a crack on the port side. Oil has been seen at Beer Head and we have had reports that two sea birds have been contaminated with oil."
