so do i have to tie the shock leader to my main line and then clip a rig onto the shock leader? cheers again Greg

Yep, yep, yep. Imagine that 5oz of lead flying down the beach at close on 100mph and hitting the little old lady walking her dog, or even worse a fellow angler...... they would be dead. 10lb per oz of lead cast Greg, plus 10lb. Buy the tapered stuff too. Daiwa make a great leader.

Go for the diawa tappered shockleaders they come on a spool and yes they are precut to size. When you have tied it to your spool line attatch a swivel to the other end and then just clip your rigs onto this swivel. If your fishing the rivers and eusturies Ben and only using like 2oz leads i dont think i would personally bother with a leader i would just use about 25lb line straight through. And use a carp rod or bass rod. :? __________________ POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

You wont need a lot more than a 40lb shockleader then mate. If it is rivers and eusturies you are fishing try scaling everything down, Try a 1oz lead and work upwards you idealy want your bait here to move ever so slightly Bass and Flounder love the bait to move around a bit. Try smaller hooks say like a size two on a two hook flapper with hook lengths about a foot long. :) __________________ POWER TO THE PEOPLE.
