Strange happenings in the N Sea

Thought my mate might have posted this but he hasnt ,so i will.

A mate of mine fished his local club match on sunday off the local Holderness beaches.
The sea was flat calm and i was talking to him before hand how it looked like it would be a whiting day.
Anyway he rang me to say he d had 3 cod and a couple of whiting ,i told him well done and off he went to the weigh in.
He rang back to tell me he d come no where,
the winner had 43lb of mainly Cod,2nd was 38lb and 3rd 22lb.

So whats going on ?
Is it one of those 7 year cod explosions,or Cods final swan song or are they making a small comeback

Whatever it is its very welcome and great to see, just a shame i now live on the south coast

Re: Strange happenings in the N Sea

Bloody hell Rich thats great to see.
After watching Hull city for years they got double promotion when i moved down south and now ive gone the Cod seem to have come back.
I remember plenty of good years every so often with big numbers of coddling but this year seems to have started late for you but is one of the best i remember.
Really hope its a sign of things to come and not just a flash in the pan.
