Most memorable moments of 2006

What were Forum members most memorable fishing moments of 2006?

For me they were:
1. seeing a massive shark (Approx 12') in the Surf at West Bexington.

2. Hooking something in the surf on mackerel feathers at Burton Bradstock about 10' from the shore that bent my beachcaster double, took line against a fully tightened reel clutch & had me running down the beach after it as I tried to slacken the clutch. Sadly it parted company before I could see what it was. I suspect I foul hooked a large Smoothound or Bass.

Re: Most memorable moments of 2006

Well for me ian ,
its got to be a un planned session on the hamble river ,
3 hour session , lots and lots of bass !!!!!!! , it gave me a 3 1/2 lb mullet ,
and a 5 1/2 lb bass , with 20 plus bass under 2 lb ,
a great evenings fishing and the best of the year !!!!!!!!!

lee.

The un-planned sessions are often the best mate, & that applies to fishing too......

Re: Most memorable moments of 2006

hopefully it would be the 10lb cod i catch b4 the new year,
but heading back to the realms of reality ,

1, though i hate to admit it,- watching ashleys face and the smug look as he beached those small pollock at the smut fest...

2, the ray meet at jacobs ladder, where i think every one caught .

3, watching the dolphins/porpoise at new quay breakwater.

Re: Most memorable moments of 2006

Getting a mackerel head mugged on the last yard of the retrieve by a tope that was lurking right under the boat. Total heart failure

Mine was catching my first Pike, a small jack of about 3/4lb. A nice surprise as I was after Perch!

I have a couple - our boat landing 24 & 36 pound congers within 5 mins of each other and having a great fight bringer them in, landing a suprise 4 pound bass in the waves at Clevedon and a few weeks ago Shads landing a 9 pound cod off our boat when we all thought it would be a ray !!!
