headtorch?

ok so christmas is coming up and i think i need a new head lamp but dont know what 1 i want
i want 1 which has both an LED option and a halogen bulb on it, other than that i am not too picky
you can get them now which also have a red light on them which would be nice, doesnt mess up your night sight and doesnt atract insects, possibly wont scare fish as well
any suggestions would be great
thanks alot

Re: headtorch?

new on the market not been out very long at all .
The LED LENSER made by optoelectronics costs £44.99
its called the head fire duplex (night vision) and here there website
Zweibrüder Optoelectronics
what i liked about it was how bright the single light is and its got a secondary
led which is red and will aid in unhooking fish on the bank with out them thrashing around because you have dazzle them with a white led light .
angling direct in norwich has them i highly reccomend it best head light i have ever had .

tightlines

Re: headtorch?

thanks kev, what sort of range do you think the LED has?
also what sort of area is covered by the light? i have found multi LEDs give you a nice wide area for working in and a single 1 gives you more of a spot
cheers

Re: headtorch?

I like my Tiga.
Had it 8 years and only just replaced the bulb, not to good for Clear water bass fishing as it is very bright but great for iluminating the beach on those dark winter nights.

Oh i also love to see maghouses face as he gets blinded everytime i turn to chat with him

Ben a lot of people say that mate, but after years of fishing with lamps and the hassle of broken mantles, fuel, blockages, smashed glasses etc(i once dropped my mates powerhouse off the top of Dimlington clffs, the highest on the holderness coast )
Buying one was the best thing i ever did,its cost me £6 in 8 years .
Also Ben i m sure there are now cheaper, lighter ones as good on the market now.
And you can really blind people at night

Re: headtorch?

The 2 things that I think are My most important points are
1.Common batteries- AA or AAA
2.The lens doesn't protrude past the body of the lamp(doesn't glare on your face/nose)

See how the clear lens sticks out from the body...Energizer.com - Products - Flashlights This flashlight would put out soo much glare it would drive me nuts.

I've got this one,( Princeton Tec Aurora LED Headlamp ) it was a lot less on sale.

Re: headtorch?

Thats the price on mail order stuff. A mail order Co. only has to charge state sales tax if they have a brick&mortar building in That state.
Postage is kinda costy and I'm afraid your Post Ofc. would open it and charge you UK VAT too.

I was reading the regs a while back, They even charge VAT on used clothing if they "appear new". (xplain that one to me)
