Re: A decent 18lb mono

I use Ultima Distance in orange for mainline 15 lb on my Abu 6500's, brilliant line casts like a dream best line ever used. Also used Daiwa Tournament in yellow for 525 supermag, very good but not quite as good as the Ultima.

Word of warning there is a new ultima on the market supposed to be strong and of lower diameter than normal. A fishing mate bought some and loaded her new reel with it "ITS CRAP AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE"

Angry Re: A decent 18lb mono

I would agree with you tried a spool, trouble on multiplyers so religated it to mangles for summer and as a backing/filler line.

Re: A decent 18lb mono

Well ,
ive just been given a spool of ultima distance , by a tackle shop owner (flatfish) , to test out so ive loaded my 525 supermag , and mag elite with the line also ultima tapered shockleader as well , so i will give it a go tommorow , alough its not a distance casting venue , ill have fun practising ,

cheers lee.

Re: A decent 18lb mono

I have used yellow 15lb Daiwa Tournament mono for about 3 years and it is absolutely fantastic - low memory, dream to cast with, never once had a tangle.

GET THE RED ICE OFF OFF YOUR REEL - IT IS CRAP

By crap I mean it is too brittle (bang on comment earlier calling it strimmer wire) and therefore has too high memory - it has a tendency to balloon and cause tangles. It is woeful to cast with compared to lower memory lines such as the line I use and from what others say the Ultima Distance sounds like it may be worth giving a go too.
