| Is it me or are the tide times . . . . . . a bit odd this weekend. I could be being a bit of a numpty but this is why I'm asking: Saturday 11th at Bournemouth: High Tide show around 4.00 pm but the equivalent tide at Chesil Cove shows for about 11.00 pm Aren't the tides normally about 2.00 hours in variation? The tides seem to split either side of Portland, which leads me to think that this must be some sort of seasonal variation, but I don't know and it's bugging me. I could of course me making a complete arse of myself, and showing my ignorance, but hey I'm not proud, can anybody shed some light? Confused of Hampshire |

| Re: Is it me or are the tide times . . . hi tony, i believe, the discrepency is down to the double high tide which is most pronounced around bournemouth and poole. at various states of the spring/neap tide cycle either the 1st high water or the 2nd h/w can be highest , easytide (and probably a few others) base their high water times on the highest of these 2 tides . (there's a couple of hours or so between them) http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/EasyTide...ictionLength=7 if you look at the graph for friday n saturday compared to thursdays tide this week it may clarify things. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
