Your opinions please...

I'm looking at a new rod and there's one in my local tackle shop I've got my eye on.

The budget's around £100 maybe a touch more, so I was looking at a Diawa TDSS 12'. Opinion on the net seems okay, but I *think* this is more of a rough ground rods more than anything else, and I'll be fishing clean/medium ground most of the time.

Also looking at a Penn Surfblaster guvnor 12' 6", Diawa Supercast, Greys Orion m2.

Has anybody got any of these rods and if so what do you think?

Edit: I forgot to mention, has anybody tried the new Penn Surfmaster 750/850 FS reels? Are they as good as the old SM70??? Cheers.

Cheers,

Rich.

I do know Penn are doing a deal on the 750 / 850 Reels in this months Sea Angler mag. £50 for either model. Think they had a good write-up too

Cheers Ian, I have read the review and they look okay... It's just that the original SM70 is such a good reel I wanted to wait until someone had used one before buying anything else!

Oh, and Veals are doing a couple of combo deals...

Surfblaster Guvnor + old SM70 = £185.
Surfblaster Guvnor + new SM 750 + line + shock leader = £188.51.

Not bad I hear you say, only when you look at the web site at the individual prices:-

Rod = £120.
SM750 = £50.

So are they telling me the the line + shock leader are worth MORE than £18.51???? I know the £50 SM750 is a special offer, but they might have taken that in to consideration with the combo offer whilst it was on!

Leaning towards the Greys at the moment, can't find a bad word to be said about it... Just gotta sneak it past the missus first!

Rich.s
