Also looking at a Penn Surfblaster guvnor 12' 6", Diawa Supercast, Greys Orion m2.

Has anybody got any of these rods and if so what do you think?

Edit: I forgot to mention, has anybody tried the new Penn Surfmaster 750/850 FS reels? Are they as good as the old SM70??? Cheers.

Cheers,

Rich.
i fish for cardiff sea anglers ive been fishing for a long time now ive got three top rods century tip tornado match, greys appolo, and a greys orion ,but evenlow the century and the appolo is more expensive i find the orion a much better allrounder with better casting and recovery,as my oppineon the penn surfmaster is not up to scrach, they brakedown allot, the best reel to go with a fixed spool rod is what i use a shakspear powerplay 7000 excilent reel for sea fishing, hope this helps you mate, tight lines

Re: Your opinions please...

Holy old thread batman......

The Zippy offer was made back in 2006 guys... Unfortunately, I didn't (And still don't!!! ) have that much money to throw at a single rod.

Just for a bit of closure, not long after the thread opened I took the 13' Grey's Orion Mk2 off a certain (rubber footed) forum friend of mine, along with a 65 mag elite. Fantastic rod. So good even that I've been on the look out for another ever since and last month managed to find one so now I've got a matching pair!! Hurrah.

These rods are so much fun they've consigned my pair of six and baits to rough weather/channel rods.
