Greg,
We will start getting a few down on the beaches soon for about a month then they
will go but you can get them up the rivers for quite a while under the traps and
in the holes in the banks is a good place to look to! if you try down the beach
Try to set some rocks up for them so they have some gaps to get under but make
sure you dont disturb the nature to much! and then all you need to do is go down
and check them as often as you can! we tend to get quite alot out of our beaches
but some beaches you dont get any! so once again its hit'n'miss! you could also
try the end of the groins in the rock pools as close to the groin as possible
and about
5inches down into the sand you may find some  Hope some of these tips
help and you find some but you must remember not all areas are the same eh?
Ollie

This will probably sound completely stupid but am I right in thinking -

Go to the beach , leave a tyre or piping ready for the crabs to crawl into, return at low tide tide and see if you have some. Then if you do, take them and freeze them or what ?

I assume that if you keep them they will make great bait throughout the summer especially for the bass ?

Cheers

you can keep them alive in seaweed and a tiny bit of water till you need them but they will peel after a while

takes longer for them to peel though in a freezer

Steve,

So I stick the guttering / pipe into the rocks so the crabs can crawl into it -assuming then that they cant get back out ? Should I be sticking it in the sand or just lying on the rocks ?

Hey Steve I must be completely stupid on these ere traps ! Am I right in thinking you basically put a length of gutter into the sand on a 45 degree angle around the rocks - the aim being that crabs then crawl in there over the rocks at high tide and then are stuck there ?

Sorry to clarify but this is completely new to me ! Y dont you going out for any then ? 8)
