| Rag worm storage Hi guys, I know this question has probably been asked a thousand times before .... but ... Having now just acquired a fridge/freezer in the shed for bait I want to keep rag in trays in the fridge, I have reads lots about keeping in small layer of salt water just covering the rag, remove dead ones etc. but the question I have - if I keep them in saltwater ... should there be a newspaper layer on the bottom - I have heard you should not keep rag directly onto the plastic tray bottom ? | Re: Rag worm storage ...all depends upon how long you intend to keep the worm in the fridge mate.. If it's just for a few days or even up to a week, a cat litter tray will be fine. Any longer than that, you could in fact put a sheet of newspaper down, but to be quite honest, I aint experienced any problems. What I do suggest is this. Keep a 2 litre bottle of sea water in the same fridge as the worms. When you do come to change the water in the trays, this water will be the same temperature as the worms. I've seen lots of people just go to the beach, bucket of water, back home and immediately change the water! Different temperature, and the worms can feel the change which could result in losing a lot of worms. You can also keep lugworms the same way. I've got whiteworms in my fridge which I dug back in February - still going strong, but only use them in matches though... |
