big tides realy best?

Ar big tides realy that much better?
ive heard that they bring deep water fish in, but i struggle with that
theory as much as i do the further you cast the bigger the fish theory!
dosnt it turn it into a big old washing machine out ther?
i imagine either side of a very big tide, to be productive
but in the midst of it i imagine it all to knock everything out of kilter?
much the same way a change of weather system needs a few days
so every thing can settle into its chosen enviroment!
i,e fish move out, and fish that enjoy the conditions have a chance to move in!

i duno any ideas? or am i just rambling

don't forget the tide will go out further as well,a good time to seek out new and previously unseen worm beds etc.

Re: big tides realy best?

well think the tide combined with wind just brought in all the weed and killed the fishing on my local beaches
impresive surf though

big tides better? i recon it depends on which species u r after.

but it will do is;- make it easier for fish to travel from place to place , carried on the tide, ( usually away from whichever venue i'm fishing

the increased strength of the tide will cut into the soft sea beds and disturb food items, also the extreeme low water exposes more sea bed to surf action disturbing more food.

a down side is that in summer this will also rip out more weed to drift about in the tide

the strong tide would also wash the scent out of baits quicker, though spread the scent wider down tide

just some thoughts,

Re: big tides realy best?

OOh the weird thing is that when out in a boat you give up fishing at the top and bottom of a tide yet shore fishing those are the best times??????????????
I normally fish from my boat within a mile or so from the shore and even there the fishing goes dead over high and low???? Big tides are definately best for me.....got a drying mooring and can go out for longer!! Who knows why...it's still 6 hours up and 6 hours down??
