| Advice on Braid??? Hello, I have just bought a Penn CV5000 with a capacity of 200yds 12lb nylon. I would like to load a spool with braid for spinning. How much do I need to buy? What strength is best to go for for Bass spinning? Thanks!! |

| Re: Advice on Braid??? Sorry missed this 300yrds of 30lb whiplash Pro will fill a Shimano AERO GTE 8000B to just below the rim On your box which the reel came in you should have info like dia = yrds That way you can then do the maths Quote:

| Re: Advice on Braid??? i don't know about that reel but if you've got a spare spool with it;- what i do is......... on the grounds that i'm unlikely to cast more than about 180-200yds buy a spool of braid about this length, tie it to a spool and wind it on then join the backing on and fill spool to desired level. then change spools and wind from one to the other so its the right way around. or you could fill up the spool with braid, then as the end gets damaged /worn/cracked off, trim back to good line, join some backing and fill spool , then transfer to spare spool so its all turned around with the braid at the top. i assume this reel is a fixed spool, could be awkward with a multi. gord. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
