Red Ice ?

Chaps,

Is the red ice 25lb line the stuff that goes clear in the water ? Wanted to get some decent 25lb line for the clear waters of Exmouth and the channel in the winter but worried that the red ice wont be clear in the clear water ?

Any help or advice appreciated.

Re: Red Ice ?

Don't worry about the red. Even clear water filters out red light in just a few feet. And its a great bonus to be able to see your line movement more easliy.
The stuff I use is called Cajun Cast. :http://www.cajunline.com/

Re: Red Ice ?

no it won't go clear, but red is hard for fish to see, even more so below 15ft,i use it all the time, very good at night, easy to see under torch light, never had any probs with it.

Re: Red Ice ?

it's the flourocarbon line thats invisable under water. it costs a far bit though.

i'm using berkley vanish for my snoods and it's pretty good stuff.

Re: Red Ice ?

Water filters out certain colors more quickly than others. The color red is the first colour to be completely filtered. This means that once Red Line goes under water it starts to become "invisible" to fish in as little as three feet of water! All the fish see is the lure.
well thats the scientist view point
but if fishing for predators red is a great target colour to get a strike from a predator i for one will use red in predator fishing
but as for line well i use red ice for sea fishing and this is because its highly visible to me in the dark

tightlines

Never thought of that.?. Now I wonder why the ol'red & white spoons are so effective? Or red hooks?
