help with spinning rod

Hi all, just a quickie.

I have just bought a 6ft spinning rod from eBay and there is a small flip up/down clip/eye thingy near the reel seat. Could anyone tell me what it is for?

I was thinking it was something to do with using a multiplier instead of a fix spool?

Hello biggun,sounds like you have bought a baitcasting rod .
Use it with a small muliplyer and yes the hook is for casting one handed.

Cheers John, I had another thought just now, could it be for hooking your lure into when your not using the rod ?

that was my thought as soon as i saw your query mate,what you going to use it for ? bass ?

if its just a small ring just above seat whare rod starts then its for clipping lure, saves ruining the usual eyes

Not sure yet Paul, I'll give Bass a go if I ever get to the sea this year.
I was intending to use it for Perch/Jack Pike on my local pond and canal.
