if i was to go on a smutt hunt say selsey for instance and ther
was a good chance at a tope, wot rig wouild you recomend that wouild
give me a chance at landing a tope and still put me in the running for a smoothy?

Same as smut rig mate ,just up the strength of the snood,maybe even use wire?

well a mates got the work van for a weekend and we wher planning to fish the 8th! and chace a few smutts and maybe a tope!
he went last weekend and thinks he lost one! as it had bitten straight through the 60lb shock leader he was using as a snood!
ive got some 1ft long wire pike traces! how about if i atached that
to say a few feet of 2olb line as the snood! wouild that work?

i read that people live bait for them, use a wire trace with a big hook, then tie a small 2-3inch long bit of mono with a size 2 hook on and a little bit of rag or something, hook a pout and leave it
apparently hand sized flatties are great

Speaking to a lad i know about going for tope next week and he uses 200lb mono.This is out of the boat mind but theyve still got teeth wherever you catch them

wot you recon the best bait will be! im thinking a munting slab of mackrel with loags of guts strapped to it!

Big lump of macky,although ive heard of them being caught on crab.
I wouldnt make the macky to big as i reckon it will need chucking well out

Spoke to a Pompey mush who was targeting tope from the Selsey windmill he had a wire trace and a 4/0 hook, mackeral strip fished at distance. Naturally he caught nowt.

yeah ill probly stick with a lump of peeler on a number 2 pennel pulley rig!
that way still gives me a chance at the smutts as ill only be fishing one rod!
