They won't work dry, toss a handful catfood in'em and drop'em in facing with the current......Anywhere, you might be suprised what and where.
I Like Gee's best, see these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...on&copagenum=1 open the mouth to about 2" for prawns

Re: any ideas on trapping live prawn?

Remember, I'm in the DRY middle of the U.S., w/only crawfish to catch, so take this for what its worth...
Crabs 'walk' into a trap, and prawns 'swim' (backwards, like crawdads) ???? suspend it a bit off the bottom?.......just a thought
Good Luck

Re: any ideas on trapping live prawn?

yea prawns do swim backwards ive watched the prawns climb all over the trap with a torch at night and the seem to spoke themselves when they go into the entrance and so shoot back out..maybe there is a piece of mesh or something they are touching and thats whats spooking them i dunno!

Re: any ideas on trapping live prawn?

yea i would tend to use a whole mackeral but break it up a bit so we have guts ect hanging out and causing a bigger scent trail..

i have heard that the bones head guts ect of a plaice is very attractive to prawns only problem is i cant catch a plaice!!!
