lobster potting

hello all

i'm just wondering if you have to have any kind of license or permit or anything to bung out a couple of lobster pots for personal use? any help would be greatly appritiated!

I wouldnt worry about it mate if its just the odd pot.
Ive got a pot a throw out in the harbour every now and then.

Yes mate you will need a license,
im not sure how to get it ,
but it also depends on how and where you lay your bouy and ropes.!!!!

Think the cost of the licence may outweigh the cost of the odd lobby.
Might be cheeper going to the fish market

There was a letter in last months Sea Angler magazine that asked the same question. The reply was that you did not need a licence, providing you were not selling the catch.

I read an article in Practical Boat Owner some time back that confirms what Charter Skipper says. Though I think you must observe size limits set by DEFRA
