Sea fishing in Newquay

Hello

I am off to newquay for a 4 day break at the end of this month and lent a spinning rod off a friend to take with me.

Can anyone help give me some advice on where to fish using a spinner and if there are any decent fishing spots that would be worth a visit?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Adam

Thumbs up Re: Sea fishing in Newquay

Almost any rock marks in North cornwall will produce fish to spinning tactics. Take some 10cm redgill rubber eels too in black & orange for the pollack. Dexter wedge lures & Rapala plugs are good too. Try rough water for Bass. You should get Pollack, Garfish, Bass & Mackerel around Newquay. Good luck.

Many thanks mate for the pointers and for the tackle tips.

I just want to have a bit of fun whilst down there and see what I can catch for the BBQ in the evening....!!

Here's hoping the weather is good...!!

Thanks again.

Cheers Mud
That would be great mate.

I am a fly fisherman normally but fancied heading down the beach to kill a few hours with a spinning rod in the mornings before the missus gets up and wants to go shopping......lol,

I've heard off some others that those red gill eels are meant to be pretty good.

I am off there 26th-30th June.

Cheers.

Re: Sea fishing in Newquay

i was in cornwall last summer admittedly not in newquay but the tactics for a majority of the venues down there seemed to be float fishing for the mackerel, gars and pollack etc with the bottom fishing gear coming out at night ,

HI again
I am also mainly a fly fisherman!!!! and i am down there fron the 17th to the 24th, seems like i am just gonna miss you! well i am deff gonna be taking my fly rod, it would be rude not to, i baught a few fly's from www.sportfish.co.uk and if that dose not work i will get the spinning gear out.
I do have 1 question, how do you float fish 4 maki? never done it my self.
However as i say m8 i will let you know as soon as i get back so you might have a bit better chance when you get there!

Re: Sea fishing in Newquay

That's a shame we'll miss each other mate, we could have paired up for a few hours and see what we caught.

Sportfish is a good supplier of fly fishing stuff. I work in central London and they have a shop in Pall Mall called Farlows it's like a fly fishermans paradise...!!

Never been float fishing for mackeral in the sea but I would presume it's just like caorse fishing but fishng on the sea. Wait for the float to bob unde and bag, you've got a mackeral. I'm gonna try the spinning but if it doesn't reap any fish, maybe i'll have a try with a float...

TIGHT LINES.....
Adam
