| crab storage...... just out of curiosity is anyone else having any trouble in keeping there crabs this year? i mean are you normal tricks to slow there peeling proses down working? I'm doing all my normal routines but they seem to be popping faster then normal......hmmmm maybe i should turn my fridge up? spending half my time peeling em ready for the freezer which isn't what i want to do as i prefer to use fresh!! any suggestions would be grand Many thanks Ollie.     |

| Re: crab storage...... box of weed in the fridge usually does the trick. at the mo i'm having trouble keeping them alive when they go from the warm tempreture of the tank to the coolness of the fridge. it's better now coz the water isn't as hot now comparred to mid week. |

| Re: crab storage...... Having just returned from collecting crabs I would be very interested in hearing how people keep ther crabs and how they bring them on to peeling condition. | Re: crab storage...... i also keep them in a box with weed and give them a bath every other day.....normally this helps hold them back but this year they seem to be popping on me so I'm having to freeze them down!! i don't mind that but it gets a pain having to go through them every day and peel 4 or 5 crabs!! oh well spose there better being frozen then dead!! any of you guys keep them on the bubble? | Re: crab storage...... you can bring on hard backs if they have a thin layer of skin under the legs, however i prefer not to do this as they can't grow the leg back so i take all the hard backs and put them in the tank for up to a month and if they don't start to crack by then they go back. as for using a tank it's my first year doing it so i'm not really that experienced, but i've got a old fish tank and a plastic box with small water pumps. it seems to be working at the mo. |
