| Ragworm. Has anyone got any views on commercially farmed ragworm? I seem to have lost confidence in them just lately and reverted to just squid if I cant get Southamptons or Irish stuff. Pretty crappy if you ask me, just full of white pussy stuff most of the time. The other thing is, how can Southampton supply so many tackle shops with bait and still not run out??? __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |

| Re: Ragworm. Hi keana its getting tough ! i went bait digging 2 weeks ago cause the wife was moaning about the price of wrag, i dug weston shore, and i couldnt find a spot that hadnt been dug in the last few days, bait holes everywhere you look,i dug for about 2 hours and got 60 decent wragworms but boy was i knackered, backache, feetache, and to top it off cut my finger on glass buried in mud. answer to your question is that i have never had a problem with commercialy farmed wrag, not that ive used it much but i do live in soton and can get freshly dug wrag almost anywhere . It beats digging any day !!..cheers lee. |

| Re: Ragworm. some farmed stuff can be crap. probably a old batch that they need to get rid of. down my way there is only farmed stuff and 99% of the time it's pretty good. sea bait farmed rag is meant to be pretty good, don't know if they will mail order small amount though, maybe worth looking into. |

| Re: Ragworm. I read this: http://www.bigdavesfishing.co.uk/rag-worm.htm and the teeth would indicate to me, its carnivorous. What do they eat, and why couldn't you, somehow, set a trap for them instead of digging them? __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Re: Ragworm. The rag beds used to be quite good here in the channel but it is getting very over-dug. One theory is that the water authorities have had to clean up the beaches and send the sewage further out. Hence nothing landing on the beaches for the worms to feed on.......plausible I suppose. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |

| Re: Ragworm. From experiance ,the fresh Irish,or Southampton worms are miles better than even the most fresh farmed stuff.Even better still are King rag from w.wales, they really do the biz for some reason, its just the 4 hour drive to get bait thats a pain...... ![]() __________________ Mike..
