abu 650c3 rocket

Hi guys ive been learning to use a multiplier for about 3 weeks, i bought a cheapie to see how i would get on,and i am pretty comfortable with it but it is slow,ive only had one nest and one crack off,not bad eh ! so ive been looking at better ones today and really like the abu 650 c3 rocket,my question is would this be to fast for me i didnt like rocket part ! if so what are my other options, ido like the idea of having a level wind and dont want to spend £95.00 if it wont suit me can anyone help ! cheers lee.

Hi Lee, although not a Rocket, I've got 6500CT Mag Elite and it is probably the best reel I have, sea or coarse. It doesn't have a level wind, but I think that's an advantage, I've heard that a level wind can cut 20 yards from your cast. This reel is so easy to cast, don't worry about it being too fast, with the magnetic braking it's a doddle to use. It's not as brutish as say a Penn 525 , but it'll cope with most sea fishing situations. Plus it looks so damn good

Cukoo what Rob says is very true,dont worry about a reel being to fast you can always slow it down,

now m8 i have a mag elite and a penn525 mag.
both are superb reels but the 525 seems too be the strongerof the two,
there is not alot between them poss down too personal preferance.

i would say to get rid of the level wind. you'll be able to cast further, grip the spool better and have a wider choice of reels. i think that you can lay the line better with your thumb and finger better than a level wind anyway, it just takes a little practise.

i would say the classic rocket is a good reel, a bit unreliable and a slow retrieve, comparred to other reels on the market. but still an excellent reel. others to think about are 525 mag/ super mag, 7HT, 6500 elite. there is also the mag elite that i'm personally not a fan of, but many say they're the muts nuts.

Hi i pick up my new reel saturday ive decided to go for the abu 650 c3 rocket, probaly more for its looks than anything,hope i made the right choice,. All i know is im going to be scared stiff of it for a while !! cheers lee.

Hi all ive got my new reel but its not a 650c3 rocket its a6500 cs rocket !! i must have read it wrong is there any difference between these 2 reels ?....cheers lee.
