| not bad for the money ok the other day i decided to ask how good red ice was and a couple of you rated highly so i went and got some to spool up my emblems which i used for sea fishing from time to time but they are normally used for my spodding and marking in my carping . any way with this in mind and being in the tackle shop i decided i would look at what was on offer in the fixed spool section .after looking at a couple and thinking how much they actually would get used (not to often) i decided to go for a reel that was not going to break the bank . i know i know what you are going to say , you get what you pay for ,but i actually think these were not to bad looking so i bought a pair of leeda MERIT BEACH 8000,s . now they look and feel sturdy and after spooling up with red ice the line lay i have to say is as good as any of my shimano,s i use now as for performance i can,t say, but i,m confident that they will hold up under pressure . as for the cost at £16 each its no money if they do let me down have any other out there either used these budget priced reels and have anything to add about these reels ? i hope they do me proud and land me a big fish then aftyer a while of use i will be in a position to say whether they are up for the job. tightlines kevin ![]() |
