Re: challaborough bay

It seemed to fish quite well around Whitsun last year, saw a few bass and a plaice caught there (typically I didn't have any bait at the time so couldn't get out!). I've seen someone fishing Burgh Island from the rocks west of the staff car park area, I've always wondered if fishing there is allowed as it looks a promising spot but never really see anyone fish it. I also spoke to a guy who was fishing just to the Challaborough side of the holiday appartments at the Bigbury side of the causeway who reckoned there was good bass fishing there and also claimed to have caught hundreds of bass in the Avon estuary the previous year (you decide) although I know the estuary is supposed to fish well for bass and mullet as well as sea trout and flatties. When will you be there? I'll be down the first week in June.

Re: challaborough bay

havent fish it for years but as pross says is good for bass ....it is also a good beach for rays ..if you want some good info on how the bays are fishing in that area have a look at Devon angling centre web site (google search) its got links to all the beaches in that area including around burgh island
